Maharashtra has become the first Indian state to deploy a system to create a digital database of criminals that uses face and iris recognition along with fingerprint scanning technologies to track suspects immediately. These biometric technologies are popularised by smartphone brands like Apple, Samsung and others and are now getting more importance in solving bigger problems.
